Zwapgrid expands Open Accounting reach with Xero and QuickBooks

Zwapgrid has connected Xero and QuickBooks to its Open Accounting API, marking a major expansion of our international accounting system coverage.Until now, our Open Accounting network has been strongly focused on the Nordic and European SME accounting ecosystem, reaching approximately 2.5 million SMEs through supported systems. With Xero and QuickBooks now added to the platform, that potential reach increases significantly, from around 2.5 million SMEs to approximately 18 million SMEs globally.

This is an important step in Zwapgrid’s ambition to become the leading Open Accounting infrastructure layer for banks, lenders, fintechs and SaaS platforms.Xero is one of the world’s leading cloud accounting platforms, with 4.6 million subscribers globally, and a particularly strong position in markets such as the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

QuickBooks is one of the most widely used accounting platforms for small businesses, especially in North America and the UK, and plays a central role in the global SME finance ecosystem.By adding Xero and QuickBooks, Zwapgrid customers can now build financial products and workflows on top of a much broader accounting data footprint, without having to build and maintain separate integrations for each system.Through one harmonised Open Accounting API, Zwapgrid enables access to structured accounting data across multiple systems, supporting use cases such as:

  • SME lending and credit assessment
  • Real-time financial insights
  • Automated onboarding
  • Cash flow analysis
  • Risk monitoring
  • Embedded finance
  • Automated bookkeeping and reconciliation

For banks and fintechs, this means faster time to market, broader customer coverage and a more scalable foundation for data-driven financial services. For Zwapgrid, this is more than another integration milestone. It is a step change in market reach. From the Nordics and selected European systems, to a significantly larger global SME accounting footprint.Open Accounting is becoming global. And Zwapgrid is building the infrastructure to make it usable.

“Adding Xero and QuickBooks is a major step for Zwapgrid. We are moving from strong Nordic and European coverage to a much broader international footprint. For our customers, this means they can build once on our Open Accounting API and reach a much larger SME market without managing the complexity of individual accounting integrations.”

Says Leo Berghald, founder and CEO at Zwapgrid.
